If you're new to walking football have a read of the blurb below:
Walking Football: A Game for Everyone
Walking football is a modified version of the traditional game, designed to be inclusive and accessible for all ages, genders, and fitness levels. Originating in the UK, it has gained popularity worldwide for its focus on health, social interaction, and fun.
Benefits for All Genders
Walking football encourages participation from everyone, regardless of physical condition or experience. Key benefits include:
Improved fitness: Enhances cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility.
Mental well-being: Fosters a sense of community, reducing isolation and improving mental health.
Skill development: Allows players to develop football skills in a supportive environment.
Community Spirit
Walking football is a fantastic way for people to stay active, make new friends, and enjoy the game safely. Hedge End Rangers FC, a community club, exemplifies this spirit by promoting football within the local community and providing a welcoming environment for all.
Rules and Gameplay
The primary rule that sets walking football apart is that players must always keep one foot on the ground, meaning no running is allowed. This reduces the risk of injury and makes the game suitable for those who might find traditional football too physically demanding. Other rules include:
No physical contact: Tackling and physical challenges are minimized to ensure safety.
Smaller pitch and goals: The game is typically played on a smaller field with smaller goals, making it easier to manage.
Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the sport, walking football welcomes everyone to join in the fun.
